Brief

A black aluminium wall rail with printed click-on modules for cycling kit: shoe pegs, a helmet saddle, a sunglasses slot and a cup for keys and a lock. Free to download, drilled and printed at home, and built on the OpenStructures 40 mm grid.

What was done

A product design specification with requirements for the modules, the aluminium rail, the wall, printing, the wider system and making it at home with DIY jigs.

Early insights

The bar sets the accuracy. Holes drilled by stepping from the last one add up their errors along the bar, so every rail is drilled through one master bar marked from a single datum, and modules locate on one pin and one slot.

Result

Specification issued. Design and CAD in February, the 30-day load test from 26 Feb, free release on 28 Mar 2027.
